Dolce & Gabbana is an Italian luxury fashion house founded in 1985 in Legnano by Italian designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. The two partners met in Milan in 1980 when they both designed for the same fashion house. In 1982, they established a design consultancy studio, which eventually evolved into Dolce & Gabbana. They presented their first women’s collection in 1985 in Milan, and a year later, they opened their own boutique. In 1988, they launched their leotard line, and in 1989, they began designing lingerie and swimwear. Dolce & Gabbana began exporting their products to Japan and other countries, including the United States, where they established their own showroom in 1990. In 1992, they presented their men’s collection, and the same year, they launched their first fragrance, Dolce & Gabbana. They won the Woolmark Prize in 1991 and the Academy of Fragrance Award for Most Feminine Scent of 1993 for Dolce & Gabbana.
